Is there really any difference between today's HRC and Hillary the former "Goldwater girl"? Given her pro-war right wing foreign policy sympathies and premature pandering to republican general election voters, it's often difficult to tell. And now, according to the Economist, Hillary continues to proudly reminice about her days of devotion to the wingnut republican icon.

The relevant paragraph is as follows:
Outside the Senate, Hillary has displayed the same singleness of purpose. She has relentlessly courted religious voters (whose relationship with the Republican Party is increasingly strained), describing abortion as a "tragic choice", defining herself as a "praying person", and employing evangelical Christians on her staff. She has repeatedly rebuffed attempts by the left to harden her opposition to the Iraq war, insisting that she will not foreclose any military options as president. She even appeared in a documentary about Barry Goldwater, praising the Arizona Republican and reminiscing about her first days in politics as a "Goldwater girl".
Sure, Hillary, reminisce about those halcyon days supporting an extremely right-wing Republican segregationist who said that if he'd been elected president he would have ended the war in one month by turning Vietnam into a "mud puddle."
And, incidentally, what's this about being a "praying person"? Where'd that come from?
